The Cairo Vote on the License
Question
The Vote for 1915 as reviewed by theTown Board was as follows:
Saloon License
For, 301; against, 231; majority for 70
Wholesale License
For, 283; against, 223; majority for 61
Druggists’ License
For, 299; against, 208; majority 91
Hotel License
For 292; against, 224; majority for 68
The total number of valid ballots was 532.
The vote in 1913 was as follows:
Saloon License
For 321; against 158; majority for 163
Wholesale License
For 307; against 150; majority for 157
Druggists’ License
For 349; against 111; majority for 238
Hotel License
For 332; against 141; majority for 191
The total number of valid ballots voted in 1913 was 479.
The above figures are taken from the Records in the Town Clerks’ Office. From these figures it will be seen that 53 more persons voted on the excise question this year than two years ago, and also that the majority for saloon licenses this year was 93 less than two years ago, and for hotel license 123 less than two years ago.
Since such a change in the vote has taken place this year without any very great effort , we wonder what might happen to the old town if the temperance forces should really get up and dust two years from now.

Greene Co N.Y. is making extra efforts for temperance or no saloon this fall. And Mr. Isaac Howard being present thought the ladies should go to work to help the cause along so it was thought best to hold a prayer meeting on Tuesday Oct 19 in the Pres.
