EMILY MAXWELL
Of Norton Hill

Emily Maxwell, 90 years, of Norton Hill, New York, passed away at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill, New York on October 28, 2004. She was born in County Galway, Ireland on November 25, 1913, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Morgan) Hynes. She was a member of the Greenville Irish American Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Our Lady of Knock Council, Knights of Columbus. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Pearse Maxwell, in 2000; also three brothers, Patrick, John and William Hynes; and four sisters, Cecelia, Mary, Ellen and Catherine.

Surviving are her brother, Michael Hynes and his wife Mary of Greenville, New York and a special friend, Bernard McGuirk of Greenville, New York.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, East Durham, New York. Interment was in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.

ANNE ERICKSON  
Of Greenville,

Anne Erickson, 76 years of Greenville, New York, formerly of Floral Park, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on November 7, 2004. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Mercurio) Vitale. She had retired from the Michelin Tire Co. in 1983 and had moved to Greenville in 2001 after the death of her husband, Irving W. Erickson in 2000. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a great friend to all who knew and met her.

Surviving are two daughters: Carol Doherty and her husband, Kevin of New Paltz, New York; Diane Kurylo and her husband, Richard of Westerlo, New York; two sons: Kenneth C. Erickson and his wife of Valerie of Queens, New York; Clifford J. Erickson and his wife Norma of Troy, New York; also 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Tamara Erickson and two brothers, Donald and Henry Vitale.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial from St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville. As to her wishes, cremation will be at the Albany Rural Cemetery.

RUTH KELLY  
Of Freehold

Ruth Kelly, 82 years, of Freehold, New York, passed away at the Craneville Place of Dalton Nursing Home in Dalton, Massachusetts on November 8, 2004. She was born in West New York, New Jersey on June 3, 1922, the daughter of the late Albert and Caroline (Lake) Perks. She had been employed at the Catskill Game Farm for several years. Her husband, Robert Kelly, pre-deceased her. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

Surviving are a daughter, Colleen Murphy and her husband, Thomas of Greenville, New York; her grandchildren: Caroline Pocorobba, Valerie Rhodes, Heather Murphy and Michael Murphy and her great-grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Pocorobba.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Greenville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, New York.

SANFORD BRITTON
Of Delmar, New York

Sanford Britton, 88 years, of Delmar, New York, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York on November 17, 2004. He was born in South Westerlo, New York on March 14, 1916, the son of the late William and Cora (Peck) Britton.

Sanford was a lifelong employee of the railroads, having worked for Penn Central, New York Central and Conrail. When able, he enjoyed his hunting. He was a former member of the Rensselaerville Vol. Fire Co. and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. He had a lifelong love of trains and had a large collection of miniature trains.

He was predeceased by his son, Randall Britton; a sister, Marjorie Moore; and a brother, LeRoy Britton.

Surviving are his wife, Junita (Boughton) Britton; two sons: Donald Britton and his wife, Susan of Rensselaerville, New York, Gerald Britton and his wife, Kathryn, of Watervliet, New York; a daughter, Eleanor Velasquez and  her husband Arnulfo of Modesto, California; also his grandchildren: Randal Britton, Jr., Todd Britton, Tamatha Keppler, Samantha Britton, Lisa Chrysler, Donald Britton, Jr., Jeffery Britton, Gregory Britton, Regina Velasquez, Christopher Velasquez, Nanetta Velasquez and Arnulfo Velasquez, Jr.: and  his brother, Ralph Britton of Rensselaerville, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Saturday from the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, New York. Interment was in the Rensselaerville Cemetery.

Those who desire may contribute in his memory to the charity or organization of one’s own choice.
