CHARLES RAYMOND
DOVER, NH – Charles F. Raymond, Jr., 72 of Governor Sawyer Lane, died Oct. 15, 2008 at Hyder Family Hospice House.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, Dec. 25, 1935, the son of Charles and Emma (Haupert) Raymond.
Charles was retired from the U.S. Air Force having served 20 years.
He was a 20-plus year member of the Pease Retirees Golf League, had participated in the Delta Society Therapy Dogs, had raised puppies for Canine Companions, had been the chairman of Family Support Council at Behavioral Health/Developmental Services of Strafford County, and was a Lector at St. Joseph Church. He was an avid Yankees fan.
Members of the family include his wife of 50 years, Doreen (Hudson) Raymond; his sons, Eugene Raymond and his wife Sher of Berwick, Maine, Robert Raymond and his wife Bobbi-Sue of Lebanon, Maine; his sister Kathleen Jamin of Far Rockaway, NY; his grandchildren, Sean, Ashley, Cody, Ryan, Adam, Dan, Dave and Kristi; his five great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son David Raymond and his daughter Kim Raymond.
Charles grew up in Windham and graduated from WAJ.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Dover, NH.
Contributions may be made to Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 county Farm Road, Dover, NH.

PAUL E. SCHWARTZ
ASHLAND – Paul E. Schwartz, 63, of Ashland, NY, died on Nov. 9, 2008, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Feb. 23, 1945 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Joseph and Ruth Schwartz.
Paul was a successful businessman who owned Ascott Steel in Long Island City as well as many other businesses throughout his lifetime. He loved to laugh and live life his way.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stepfanie, his children David, Mindy, Jason and Jared; his sister Marilyn Wolchock; and his four grandchildren Brandon, Nathaniel, Andrew and Jacob.
A private funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment followed at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Foundation.

KATHERINE EGAN HAINES
Kay Haines, 96, died Monday, Nov. 17, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY.
Born April 11, 1912, in Ravena, NY, daughter of Tom and Alice Freuler Egan.
Kay Haines was employed as an executive secretary for the New York State Legislature, in Albany, NY, for many years before retiring in 1985. Kay was the executive secretary for Governor Malcom Wilson.
When Kay first moved to the Mountaintop, she worked as a hair stylist at the Catskill Mountain House. Kay and Oliver Haines owned and operated the Central Market on Main Street, Tannersville, NY. For several years Kay was also a Deputy Sheriff in Catskill, NY.
Kay was a member of the Third Order Mountain Top Health Committee, Red Cross, 4H Leader, Greene County Republican Committee Woman, Meals on Wheels, Rosary Altar Society, New York State Senior Games ping-pong champion and an active member of the community.
Kay Haines also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Haines Falls, NY, for many years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-laws, Peg and Art Fries and Harriet and Tony Bucca; four grandchildren, Kathi, Megan, Amy and Charley; and five great grandchildren, Emil, Kaylyn, Lisa, Adam and Ella.
Kay Haines was predeceased by her husband, Oliver Haines.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home at 7742 Main St., Hunter, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wed., Nov. 26, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Haines Falls, NY.
Interment will follow in the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Elka Park, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
